Tampa, Florida, wine cellar builder, Wine Cellar Specialists, recently built an incredible wine room in a Chicago home. Built in the basement, this storage space, and wine tasting room show what can happen when you hire a top-notch designer to build your dream wine cellar in your residence.
Custom Wine Cellar Design for a Chicago Home
When starting your own wine room project, you have to think about the possible effects of a poorly designed cellar.
If you don’t hire a professional builder, you might end up unsatisfied with the look of your wine storage space and/or spending more than your budget allows because the components used in the construction are mediocre and will need to be replaced.
A well-constructed wine room will maintain the optimum conditions needed by wine to preserve its desirable characteristics. The important components of a custom wine cellar include the refrigeration system, racking system, lighting, and flooring. The designs of the storage racks, walls, and ceilings must not be taken for granted because they contribute to the overall ambiance and appeal of the cellar.
In order to avoid future problems, you must work with an experienced Florida wine cellar builder, like Wine Cellar Specialists. They have created stellar designs for climate-controlled wine storage facilities. Regardless of the location of the room, they always make sure that all the components are of high quality, attractive, and are installed properly. They want their clients to have a beautiful and safe place for their collection.
In Chicago, Illinois, they recently completed an installation project where they included features to add functionality to the home wine cellar.
Custom Designed Wine Racks
The style of your wine racks contributes a lot to the aesthetic appeal of your wine room. Wine Cellar Specialists created a 3-dimensional design of the cellar, allowing their clients to have a clear visualization of the room. The drawings were labeled A, B, C, and D.
Elevation A is the wall where the door is installed. The racking on the left side of the entryway has a tabletop at the center, which serves as a corking station.
They added two drawers and two cabinets below the tabletop so the client can store some wine cellar accessories in them. There are column wine racks on both sides of the tabletop.
To create a smooth transition to the left wall, Wine Cellar Specialist used a true radius curved corner wine rack. There are two X-bins at the middle of the left wall racking, which is ideal for organizing wines in bulk. Two case storage bins were added at the bottom.
The topmost section of the left wall is intended for single bottle storage. The middle section has a display row that lines the wine racks on the left and right walls.
As you enter this basement wine cellar built by a Florida expert, you will see a beautiful Peninsula table and the arch at the center of the front wall racking. You can see a nice piece of artwork on the wall inside the arch.
The table was designed, not only to provide space for serving and/or decanting wine but also to maximize the storage capacity of the room. Both sides of the table have individual bottle racks. The front side has three case storage bins. This table style is ideal for small wine rooms. More single bottle racks were installed above and below the display row.
The right wall consists of a three-row case bin at the bottom and individual racks at the top. The racking ends with a quarter-round display rack, where the client can display some of his bottles or stemware in a vertical position.
All the wine racks were constructed to an exact height to allow them to fit nicely under the soffit. Solid tops were added to the top of the entire racking for additional storage space.
All Heart Redwood – a Wood Choice Used by a Florida Expert for Building a Basement Wine Cellar
At Wine Cellar Specialists, they don’t just focus on the style of the wine racks. They also want their client’s collection to be stored in storage racks made from quality materials. In this project, they chose All-Heart Redwood, one of the most sought-after wood species in wine room construction.
These wine racks add a classic appeal to wine cellars, creating a relaxing ambiance in the room. For a fine finish, a coat of lacquer was applied to the wood.
Efficient Cooling Equipment
The right wine cooling system is essential to maintain the optimum conditions in a wine cellar. It regulates the temperature and humidity, preventing wine from being damaged.
It should be efficient and of the right size and capacity to achieve the right environment to prevent premature aging of wine.
In this basement wine cellar project, a 3200Vsi self-contained wine cooling unit by CellarPro was used. It comes with an electronic thermostat, a digital display, and alarms.
Whether your wine cellar is in the basement, or in other areas of your home, there is an ideal type of refrigeration system offered by a master builder in Florida.
Elegant Wine Cellar Door
The wine cellar door is rectangular and is made of dual-pane glass. It is equipped with an automatic door bottom to help seal the air in the cellar.
This vine-style door, which consists of wrought iron at the top and bottom of the window, allows the client to see his wine display from outside the room. Cherry stain and lacquer were applied to the door.
A beautiful set of handles can also add impact to the door. Wine Cellar Specialists used the elegant Quincy style handle set finished in oil-rubbed bronze.
Safe and Attractive Lighting
In choosing a lighting system for your wine cellar, regular bubs should be avoided because they can damage wine. LED lights are recommended because they don’t emit too much heat. Additionally, an LED lighting system is also an energy-saving option and can last longer than ordinary bulbs.
In this project, an LED puck light was installed above the display row. It has a dimmable switch for easy control of the room’s brightness.
