Anyone who sees this home wine cellar will be impressed. At Custom Wine Cellars Florida, we always aim to create wine displays that stand out by incorporating unique features into the design. In this project, you will learn how our team built a striking wine room with an eco-friendly touch.
This Home Wine Cellar Boasts Unique Features
Our team specializes in converting spaces into beautiful wine rooms. Our creativity, passion, and experience help us build our client’s dream wine cellars regardless of size. In this particular project, a client in Florida contacted our team to seek help with their wine cellar project.
We incorporated features and installed components that would exceed the expectations of the owner and create a safe and stylish wine cellar. We added a vintage touch and ensured the wine room was ideal for long-term storage.
In this wine room construction project, we built the wine cellar next to the dining area. The small space did not hinder us from creating an impressive wine cellar design for 1,580 bottles, consisting of wines bought by the owners from different wineries.
One-of-a-Kind Wine Racks: am Eco-Friendly Feature of the Florida Home Wine Cellar
Your wine racks can make or break the overall appeal and functionality of your residential wine cellar. Therefore, it is best to work with a specialist to ensure that your wine storage system meets your requirements. We always want to please every wine collector we work with by doing our best to bring their spaces to a new level.
For this small walk-in wine cellar, we installed wine racks made from reclaimed wine barrels. We utilized the sides of the barrels, giving the wine racks a curvy appearance.
Some sections of the racking made from the outer parts of the barrels have distinctive markings left by the barrel hoops or metal bands that held the wooden planks together. Other wine racks made from the inside of the used barrels look reddish because the wood had been stained by the red wine held in the barrels.
The finished racking gives off the aroma of the wine once stored in the wine barrels and creates a vineyard feel. The wine barrel racks have a neck-forward configuration. We included an arch opening with a tabletop where the client can store a few more bottles vertically and serve wine. Below the tabletop are X bins ideal for storing wines in bulk.
We installed half-height wine racks on the wall where a window is located. The racking consists of a glass rack, humidor, reclaimed wine barrel tabletop, and casters.
Wine Barrel Flooring
The flooring is also a vital component of a wine cellar. Therefore, choosing the type of flooring for your project with the help of a specialist is a smart idea. Flooring made from reclaimed wine barrels makes a statement. We use the tongue and groove technique to create flooring made from planks in random widths.
In this project, you will see the Stave wine barrel flooring showing the marking from metal bands of reclaimed wine barrels. Each flooring is unique since no two planks are the same.
Stone Walls and Elegant Glass Wine Cellar Door
The stonewalls add an Old-World look to the residential wine cellar, making it look like a small dungeon. The wine barrel racks look good installed against the stonewalls,
The door is the first thing the guests will see before entering the wine room. Custom Wine Cellars Florida offers pre-hung and custom doors in different styles. We will choose the best entryway to your wine room considering your aesthetic needs and the existing décor your home.
We decided to install a Barolo-style wine cellar door to complement the vintage appeal of the reclaimed wine barrel racks. It is made of a wooden frame and glass panel. We used a thermally insulated glass panel to prevent condensation from building up inside the wine cellar and causing wine storage issues.
Wine Cellar Cooling System
The correct environment for wine to age gracefully has temperatures ranging from 55 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity levels between 60 to 70 percent. To achieve the ideal wine storage conditions, an efficient wine cooling system is required.
At Custom Wine Cellars Florida, we are very careful when choosing the climate control unit for every wine room. We make a trough assessment of the owner’s needs considering the following factors:
- Size and location of the wine room
- Availability of an exhaust room
- Aesthetic requirements of the client
- Budget
We also perform a heat load calculation to determine the right size of refrigeration unit for the wine cellar. In this home wine cellar project, we utilized a CellarPro 6000S cooling unit based on crucial factors, including the required BTU considering the amount of glass used on the door and window.
The split-type win refrigeration system is one of the recommended wine cellar cooling systems because of installation flexibility. It can be configured in various ways to fit installation constraints and circumstances. Our team had to wire the unit with two power sources using the control wiring of the valve because of the hot climate in Florida.
