Impressive Home Wine Cellar Built in a Small Space by Florida Master Builders
If you are a wine collector and have an unused space in your home, it is a good idea to utilize it to build a wine storage structure. A wine cellar is a unique feature and can increase the resale value of your property. Moreover, it can also enhance your wine drinking experience. Imagine hosting a wine tasting party in an elegant wine room in your house. Your guests will be impressed with your luxurious-looking contemporary home win cellar.
A client in Florida sought the help of Wine Cellar International for their wine room conversion project. Wine Cellar International is one of our partners in wine cellar construction, and they have proven their reliability and expertise in designing and building refrigerated wine cellars with contemporary features.
Designing and Building the Contemporary Home Wine Cellar in Florida
Creating a design is a crucial step in wine cellar construction. As a master builder in Florida, Wine Cellar International knows the importance of making a thorough assessment of the client’s needs before creating a design.
During the assessment stage, they considered the essential factors to help them determine all the components and materials suitable for the client’s requirements. They conducted an interview with the homeowner and took note of every detail. Having keen attention to detail is the key to creating the perfect design for every wine room.
Wine Cellar International created 3-dimensional images of the wine room to provide the client with better visualization of the completed wine cellar. The wine room was designed to hold 891 bottles. They started the construction after the owner approved their design proposal.
Challenges in the Construction of this Contemporary Home Wine Cellar in Florida
In this project, there were challenges that Wine Cellar International had to deal with. One of these was the small space. The area is 11 feet high and is part of the home’s L-shaped bar located in the entertainment area.
The team also had difficulties dealing with the drop-down ceiling, incorporating the step-down, and installing the ladder. No challenges stopped them from creating a safe and beautiful contemporary wine cellar.
They were able to finish the project in 6 to 7 weeks, which included framing the room, adding insulation, installing and manufacturing the brushed ladder, and manufacturing the metal wine racks.
Step-Down and Drop-Down Ceiling
Wine Cellar International incorporated a step-down so that the wine room would look right. They made the existing drop-down ceiling part of the wine cellar without looking out of place.
Custom Wine Cellar Ladder
The custom wine cellar ladder was necessary considering the height of the floor-to-ceiling wine racks. It would allow the owner to access the bottles located beyond reach in the tall wine racks. It is made from brushed stainless steel handcrafted in Germany.
Another challenge was installing the ladder the right way so it could perform its function. Since the wine racks are 3-bottles deep, leaning the ladder against the wall would not work. What Wine Cellar International did was use a special bracket that would hold the rail for the ladder off the wall.
Contemporary Features of the Home Wine Cellar
Initially, the owner wanted to have a wine cellar that looked like a European shower with a seamless glass door and walls. He did not want any visible frames, but when the team of master builders learned that he wanted a wine room that would stand out, Wine Cellar International recommended adding metal elements. They installed brushed steel framing and metal wine racks to achieve a more contemporary look. This home wine cellar is now the focal point in the home’s dining area.
Metal Wine Rack System Ideal for the Contemporary Home Wine Cellar
The metal wine racks installed by Wine Cellar International on the left and back walls were supplied by VintageView. The racking was designed with a label forward orientation, holding the bottles with the labels facing out. This way, locating a specific type of wine would be easier.
On the right wall, you will see a custom wine rack consisting of a tabletop, an angled display row, and three levels of horizontal display rows below it. The shatterproof glass was added on top of the table to provide a place for decanting and serving wines. It can also be a storage place for large format bottles.
Wine Cellar Refrigeration System
The wine cooling system is a vital component of a wine cellar. Without it or installing it incorrectly will cause wine storage and structural problems. In this contemporary home wine cellar in Florida, Wine Cellar International utilized a RM 6600 split system from US Cellar Systems. The condenser, the noisier component, was placed outside the wine cellar about 20 feet away. This type of refrigeration system offers a virtually quiet operation.
