Features of the Office Space

The office space had cabinets where the owner displayed picture frames and other decorations. There was also a built-in desk where he was previously doing his paperwork.

There was a window, which opened to the outdoors. The door was originally a hidden bookshelf that led to the room.

3-Dimensional Drawings

Three-dimensional drawings are important in providing the owner with better visualization of the completed wine room. These images include the different room elevations, bottle capacities, and racking styles. By creating CAD drawings, the owner can make changes to the racking features before the builder starts the construction.

In this project, Wine Cellar Specialists labeled the elevations with letters A to D.

Left Wall and Back Wall Wooden Wine Racks for a Home Wine Cellar in Florida

Aesthetics should not be ignored when designing a wine cellar for your Florida home. Your chosen designer must be creative enough in transforming an old space into a wine room that can “wow” your guests and adds value to your home.

Left Wall (Elevation A)

Elevation A is the wall on the left side of the room, which consists of a door at the farthest side. Because of this, there was very little space for the racking. However, Wine Cellar Specialists was able to maximize the area by installing a 6-inch deep label forward horizontal, rustic wooden wine rack.

This racking style displays the bottles with the labels facing out. It provides convenience when locating a specific type of wine. You do not have to flip the bottle just to see the description of the wine.

The top section was designed to fit 750ml bottles while the lower section was intended for accommodating large format bottles like champagne and magnums.

Back Wall (Elevation B)

There are single-deep individual wine racks at the top section of the back wall. Below is a double-deep tabletop with lattice X bins at the bottom. The X bins allow the owner to store the bottles according to variety, style, or size, resulting in better wine management.

Wine Cellar Specialists added a high reveal display row that extends to the right wall. It highlights some of the client’s bottles at an angle, allowing the cork to stay in contact with the wine. Storing the bottles at an angle will prevent the cork from getting brittle and losing its elasticity.

When the cork dries out, it will shrink and cause an unwanted amount of air to mix with the wine, resulting in oxidation. This will alter the wine’s chemical properties and cause damage.

To add character to this beautiful custom wine cellar design, Wine Cellar Specialists added a light valance above the display row. The light valance was where they installed the LED lights.

Corners (Elevation C)

Florida Builders Added a True Radius Corner Wine Rack at the Corner

To create a smooth transition from one wall to another, Wine Cellar Specialists installed a true-radius curved corner wine rack at the top section of the single-deep wine racks. They also added a high reveal display row to complement the right and back wall.

Right Wall (Elevation D)

On the right wall, Wine Cellar Specialists incorporated single deep individual wine racks. They also included a high reveal display row below this section.

The bottom section consists of a double-deep tabletop, three double-deep rolling storage for wooden cases, and three double-deep lattice X bin wine racks. The top center of the right wall has a grill cover and box that conceals the wine cooling unit evaporator. The compressor was placed outside the back wall.

In this project, we used Sapele Mahogany. It has a brownish color with a fine texture and interlocked grain. In addition to its natural beauty, Sapele Mahogany is also durable, and resistant to humid wine cellar conditions and rot.

Florida Custom Wine Cellar Glass Door

It is important to choose a high-quality wine cellar door. An expert in Florida knows that the door of a climate-controlled home wine cellar must be made from an exterior grade material. Moreover, it must be insulated and equipped with sealing components. If poorly constructed, your door will warp easily.

In this project, Wine Cellar Specialists constructed the door using the LVL technology to make the door highly resistant to warping. They installed a Barolo-style entryway. It is a rectangular door with a wooden frame and glass at the center.

They used African Mahogany for the frame. The glass panel is dual paned and insulated to prevent condensation from forming. Without proper door insulation, mold and mildew might damage the walls and ceiling. They can also grow on your racking and wine labels.

Wine Cellar Specialists also added an automatic door bottom, commercial grade ball-bearing hinges, and Q-Ion weather stripping. These sealing components will help maintain the correct storage conditions in the room by preventing the cool air from escaping your home wine cellar in Florida.
